Laryngeal Cancer
What is Laryngeal Cancer
The larynx (voice box) is where laryngeal cancer develops. It is the second most prevalent kind of cancer of the head and neck. Each year, around 12,000 new instances of laryngeal cancer are detected in the United States.
The larynx is at the very top of the trachea (windpipe). It has two bands of muscle known as vocal cords, which vibrate when air travels through them to produce speech. The larynx also keeps food out of the lungs.
Laryngeal Cancer Symptoms
The most common symptoms of laryngeal cancer include:
1. Hoarseness
2. A lump in the neck due to an enlarged lymph node
3. Ear pain
4. Difficulty swallowing
Risk Factors for Laryngeal Cancer
Tobacco and alcohol usage, particularly when combined, are the most common risk factors for laryngeal cancer.
Other risk factors include:
Workplace exposure to wood and metal dusts, asbestos, paint fumes, and other chemical inhalants, a diet deficient in vitamins A and E, gastroesophageal reflux illness, and human papillomavirus (HPV) infection
Treatment for Laryngeal Cancer
The following are the goals of laryngeal cancer treatment:
Cancer Treatment :
Keep your appearance and voice to prevent the cancer from returning.
Your treatment plan is determined by the extent and depth of the tumour. Surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or a combination of techniques may be used in treatment.
Radiation Therapy for Laryngeal Cancer
Radiation therapy for laryngeal cancer involves directing high-energy particle beams at the tumor. When the particles reach the tumor, they can kill cancer cells by causing DNA damage.
People with early-stage laryngeal cancer are frequently treated with radiation. Chemotherapy is occasionally used with radiation. This method is known as chemoradiation. It has the potential to improve the efficacy of your care.
Dr. Chaddha has extensive experience treating patients with laryngeal cancer at various stages. He collaborate closely with other members of your care team to create a treatment plan that takes the size and shape of the tumor into account to the millimeter. Our objective is not to eliminate cancer cells but also to prevent the side effects of treatment.
Advanced Laryngeal Cancer Drug Therapies
Chemotherapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy may be used to treat patients with advanced illness.
our medical oncologists (doctors who treat cancer with medication therapies) collaborate with you to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs and results in the best possible outcome.
Our medical oncologists provide exceptional care to patients with advanced laryngeal cancer. We are well-versed in the most recent clinical studies for laryngeal cancer. These studies could provide you with advanced therapies years before they are available elsewhere.
